Election preparedness and security strategy

Election preparedness and security Strategy: This strategy outlines how the programme will support peaceful elections in Kenya. Our interventions have been broken into four phases linked to the electoral cycle: the planning, the pre-election, election and post-election phases. Some of the key initiatives under the different phases include:

  • supporting the preparation and operationalisation of election security plans by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), NPS, National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), NSC and other relevant agencies at the national level;
  • working with County Security Intelligence Committees (CSIC) and County Peace Forums (CPF) to coordinate election security initiatives at the county level;
  • building the capacity of relevant actors to promote conflict sensitive reporting, mediate conflicts and promote peaceful campaigning;
    promoting inter-clan discussions and dialogues;
  • supporting a rapid response framework for the deployment of resource and interventions to address emergent issues in a timely manner;
  • supporting community initiatives to manage the outcomes of the elections
